Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopment disorder that leads to impaired language, communication and social skills. According to estimates from the Center for Disease Control Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network, 1 in 88 children in the US has been identified with ASD – this is up 78% in the past decade. Tragically, the majority of children diagnosed with ASD never gain the ability to read with any degree of fluency or utility.
