Rebellations Hair & Beauty Studio Announced as One of Five Finalists for the North American Hairstyling Awards by the Professional Beauty Association

HOBOKEN, N.J., July 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Professional Beauty Association's North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) has announced Rebellations Hair & Beauty Studio as a finalist in the Salon Design category. The NAHA is known as the pinnacle of beauty competitions in North America, where only the top stylists and leaders in the beauty industry are recognized for their talent. The competition has received over 700 entries in 13 categories from beauty professionals across the United States and Canada, truly demonstrating the magnitude of the event.

Thomas Bering, MD, owner and creator of Rebellations, states: "This recognition is astonishing and gratifying, because at no time in the planning did I have industry-wide recognition in mind.  In fact, as a full-time anesthesiologist by profession, I had simply pinned my hopes for local commercial success on the designing expertise of Eurisko Design & Consulting (New Orleans, LA). They delivered -- locally and internationally."

Because Rebellations was retrofitted to a stately 1916 structure that originally served as a Hoboken hotel, inspiration for the design evolved from some of the successful loft apartment adaptations Dr. Bering had studied in nearby SoHo: "We sought to create reception, shampoo, color, styling and retail areas that would stand discrete from each other, yet blend harmoniously in the same 'cube' -- the way a well-designed urban loft might be set into living, dining and sleeping zones, all within a single space."

Early on, Rebellations caught the attention of celebrity stylist Nick Arrojo, who designated it as one of his first four ARROJO Ambassador Salons. This commercial achievement ironically presented the new venture with its biggest challenge. Explains Dr. Bering: "Of the 80-odd Ambassador Salons across the country, ours uniquely sits only 7,000 feet west of Nick's flagship SoHo Studio.  We needed a design that would help validate for the client that a memorable consumer experience awaits her -- one befitting the Arrojo name."
