MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is delighted to report an 8.7 percent increase in May sales as 2,802 units were sold as compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date sales also continued to increase with results up 3.7 percent over the same period last year, laying the groundwork for a new milestone in company history as 2012 promises to be Subaru Canada's best one yet.
It was also a record month for all four regions with Subaru Canada's western region experiencing its all-time best month ever with May sales up by 7.9 percent, besting the previous record set in December of 2010.
With 974 units sold, the completely redesigned 2012 Subaru Impreza achieved record-breaking May results with sales up a massive 84.1 percent. These strong sales have also helped Impreza achieve a YTD record with 4,303 units sold this year, an increase of 56.2 percent over 2011. Forester sales also rose by 7.4 percent with 772 units sold over May of last year.
"These results can be attributed to our all-new 2012 Subaru Impreza," said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. "Our inventory is back in line after last year's devastating tsunami and we are able to meet the demand as Canadians are purchasing this fun-to-drive compact car in even greater volume."
