LOS ANGELES, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Worldwide Pants, which produces the Late Show with David Letterman, in partnership with Red Bull Soundstage, an innovative music program that helps artists actively take control of their careers, has announced the 4 contest winners who will be featured in the upcoming independent film, We Made This Movie. The film which is directed by Rob Burnett (CEO Worldwide Pants) and co-written and co-produced by Jon Beckerman will premiere in an online event hosted by SnagFilms on September 20 followed shortly by a Video on Demand and Digital release.
The contest called for musicians to submit songs to accompany four key scenes from the film which were voted upon by the voting public and curated by the film's actors and producers. Additionally, the top 24 submissions will be entered into online voting for the "Audience Choice" award which will provide an emerging artist the career-boosting opportunity to perform live on the Late Show with David Letterman during the week of the film's premiere in September.
FIRST-EVER MOVIE SOUNDTRACK CREATED FROM NEW WEB PLATFORM
"Going in, we crossed our fingers and hoped we'd get four usable songs for our movie. Very early in the listening process, however, panic set in -- the good kind. The quality of the music submitted by Red Bull Soundstage artists created an embarrassment of riches. We listened to nearly 1,200 songs and all we could ask was, 'How many of these can we fit in the film?'" explained Burnett. "We're thrilled to be able to expose these emerging artists to a wider audience, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the thing that matters most: Red Bull Soundstage made our film better. Much, much better."
In addition to the top 4 scene winners, the film's producers will include additional tracks from the 1,200 songs submitted songs in the official "all Red Bull Soundstage" soundtrack for the film. The full list of the songs that will be featured in the film and soundtrack are available at redbullsoundstage.com. Starting on July 18 until August 7, 2012, fans can go the Red Bull Soundstage website to vote for their favorite artist to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman.
