Red Shirt Entertainment Announces Lineup for 'Rooftop Reading Series' in Midtown Manhattan
Production company selects plays and directors for festival set to take place in August
NEW YORK, July 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Shirt Entertainment - the New York-based entertainment company - has announced the selection of playwrights and directors that will participate in the "Red Shirt Rooftop Reading Series" taking place Friday, August 3rd through Sunday, August 5th.
"After an exhaustive search, we are unequivocally happy with the plays," said Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj, Producing Artistic Director at Red Shirt. "Every artist involved with the festival is bringing something compelling to the table and we are delighted to offer them this opportunity."
Red Shirt is also proud to announce that Tony Award-winning actress Tonya Pinkins will be participating in the festival, appearing in Goddess Hair and Nail Salon, one of the eight selected 10-minute plays. "We are so delighted to hear that Ms. Pinkins has decided to join us," commented Maharaj. "Her body of work in the American Theater speaks for itself and we know her presence will help to enrich the festival."

Apples and Corn - Written by Joseph Yeargain - Directed by Alexis Williams
Spook, a one-act play inspired by Dr. Maya Angelou's poem "Willie," will be shown all three days. Written and directed by Maharaj, it will feature Kayla Aimable, Amelia Pedlow, Derric Harris and Jonas Goslow.
