Redscout Expands Services Into Communications
Hires Renowned Creative Director Peter Nicholson and Industry Thought Leader Nick Johnson to Lead Firm Alongside Founder and CEO Jonah Disend
NEW YORK, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Redscout, an MDC Partners company, announced today plans to extend its client offerings to better bridge the gap between brand positioning and creative execution. Redscout will now provide creative solutions for clients through consumer experience, culture creation, social connectivity and multi-platform advertising. This will include traditional platforms like online, print and broadcast, as well as the pursuit of innovative, idea-driven concepts with unique execution potential. The expansion coincides with the newly appointed leadership of Chief Creative Officer, Peter Nicholson, and President, Nicholas Johnson.
Since its inception in 2000, Redscout has built a reputation for helping brands realize their potential through brand strategy, innovation and design. Working with such A-list companies as PepsiCo, Diageo, Hyatt, Activision Publishing, Inc., Del Monte, and Domino's, Redscout has helped these clients gain significant growth and launch many new products and services. Now, in response to that success and added client demand, Redscout will extend its offering to take the work they do in brand positioning and innovation and bring it to market through strategically grounded advertising, marketing and branding services. With the injection of critically acclaimed creative leadership, Redscout is now able to step out from the silo of strategy and into the more visible world of consumer marketing.
"Clients are looking for partners today that truly understand every facet of their brand and business from the inside out. Unlike advertising agencies that are brought in once the product is designed and in place, we are in an ideal position to utilize our unique perspective, working with our clients from a product's inception all the way through to consumer-facing marketing," said Jonah Disend, Founder and CEO, Redscout. "We believe that what we can now offer transcends what a traditional agency can offer. The opportunity to bring our innovation and brand strategies to life is incredibly exciting and there could not be two better people than Peter and Nick to lead the charge. After 10 years of being the 'best kept secret' we are ready for our close-up."
"I was incredibly impressed by Redscout's singular focus on helping their clients grow their businesses in a very unique and creatively focused manner," said Peter Nicholson. "And I was really startled by how trusted and collaborative the relationship is between Redscout and their clients. I am truly excited to be a part of the team."
In his new role, Nicholson will be principally responsible for bringing strategies and innovation ideas to life through experiential design and communication. Prior to joining Redscout, Peter Nicholson was Chief Creative Officer at Deutsch. While at the agency, Peter steered two of their biggest new business wins of all-time, USAA and PNC Bank. He also led the re-positioning of Tylenol, which resulted in the first significant share gain for the brand in over 5 years. Before Deutsch, Nicholson was with JWT where he developed award-winning integrated campaigns for JetBlue, Diageo's Smirnoff Vodka and Cadbury's Stride gum. Nicholson's career also includes time in the creative departments at Publicis, New York, Goodby Silverstein and Partners, Leagas Delaney and Anderson Lembke working for, adidas, Polaroid, TiVo, HP and PacBell, Heineken, Fujifilm, P&G, Pfizer, and BMW. He has garnered many awards including Clios, Cannes Lions, One Show Pencils, Kelly Awards, British D&AD and Effies, and was honored as one of the "40 under 40" by Crain's.
Newly appointed President Nick Johnson is charged with managing the overall direction and growth of the agency in New York and San Francisco, including the build-out of this new offering, a deeper commitment to industry outreach and also, with Peter, determining the best structure for creative and production services moving forward.
Johnson spent the past eight years with Venables Bell & Partners where, as Associate Partner & Managing Director, he was one of four agency partners responsible for the shop's management and growth. During his tenure, the agency went from a 12-person creative boutique to 155 people with nearly $30MM in revenue and was just named one of AdAge's Top 10 agencies in the US. Under Nick and his partners' direction, the shop has won many high profile accounts including Audi, ConAgra and Intel. Prior to VB&P, Johnson worked in account management at agencies such as GSD&M, Zimmerman Partners and Bernstein-Rein and through his career, he's partnered with brands such as Barclays, Walmart, Rolling Stone, Coca-Cola, Robert Mondavi, and Kraft.
"I've spent my entire career in ad agencies and I love this industry," said Johnson. "Jonah and the team at Redscout are pushing this industry forward. They are having conversations with clients that most agencies never get a chance to and, in the process, actually influencing their business decisions. I'm thrilled to be a part of the next genesis of Redscout."
