ReelDx's medvid.io Platform Makes Asynchronous Video Telemedicine Possible In Any Medical Software
medvid.io's free APIs now available to developers to integrate HIPAA-compliant video creation, storage, and sharing with any healthcare application; platform creates new opportunities for efficient delivery of healthcare
CHICAGO, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ReelDx (www.reeldx.com; @ReelDx), the leader in secure video management for healthcare, today announced at the HIMSS 2015 conference (#HIMSS15) the availability of the medvid.io platform. medvid.io enables any software developer to add HIPAA-compliant video management to their healthcare software.
"Stored video is a powerful tool for improving provider-patient communication and health outcomes," said Dr. David Spiro (@David_ReelDx), Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of ReelDx. "Allowing the patient or doctor to capture video and share it securely with family, caregiver network, or others is an amazing breakthrough."
While live video telemedicine with medical professionals is becoming ubiquitous, there is even more value in stored video telemedicine. Patients and caregivers can use stored video to collaborate on an ongoing basis. The American Telemedicine Association (@AmericanTelemed) published research showing that a majority of patients remember more about their visit to the doctor when able to review the visit on a recorded video. In the ATA study, 90% of patients found the recorded video helpful.
ReelDx has several large deployments of medvid.io in the prototyping and development stage with major pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organizations, and health systems. In addition, over 100 independent healthcare software development companies have registered for the medvid.io beta test, which is now under way.
Twistle's (@TwistleApp) workflow automation delivers multimedia messages and dynamic forms to patients on behalf of care teams, saving time and enabling processes that drive good outcomes. To deliver video messages, Twistle recently integrated medvid.io into its platform.
"It was an easy choice," said Kulmeet Singh (@kulmeets), Founder and CEO of Twistle. "No other platform available handles video as effortlessly and securely as medvid.io. We believe that stored video messages dramatically enhance the value of medical communication and workflow."
NextGenU (@NextGenUOrg), which provides live mentorship and free accredited medical education, has partnered with ReelDx to use medvid.io to capture case studies in 128 countries, and build peer-reviewed databases of video case studies for education and epidemiological research. Dr. Erica Frank (@EricaFrankMDMPH), founder and President of NextGenU chose to work with ReelDx because of the security and stability of the technology platform.
"Working in remote areas and with sensitive data, we wanted to make sure our system was reliable," Dr. Frank said. "medvid.io makes it easy and safe to capture patient-provider encounters and present them as powerful case studies."
InsightMedi (@InsightMedi), a global online image sharing network for medical professionals, partnered with ReelDx to enable video sharing among the professionals.
"We started by exposing our users to video case studies," said Juan Gonzalez (@JuanG294), Co-Founder and CEO of InsightMedi. "As we move forward, we're confident in the medvid.io platform to handle secure video capture and sharing within our community."
Mavencare (@GoMavencare) is a digital health start-up providing high quality home care services to seniors. They use mobile technology to send families real time updates from the caregiver throughout the care service appointment. The Toronto-based company is integrating medvid.io to enable video updates captured during home health visits.
"We were looking for a way to easily capture and safely share video with families of their loved ones during care appointments," said Nukul Bhasin (@NukulB), Mavencare Co-founder. "medvid.io was the perfect solution for us. The APIs are easy to integrate, and the security was the clinching factor."
Unlike pure storage solutions like Box.com and Dropbox, ReelDx's medvid.io platform handles video upload, encoding, transcoding, player creation, and streaming directly into the host software. Unlike pure video management systems such as Brightcove and Encoding.com, medvid.io is HIPAA-compliant end-to-end, and integrates seamlessly into medical workflows.
medvid.io is available today at www.reeldx.com/medvid.io. The APIs are free for any developer. Users may upload their first 100 videos free, after which there is a monthly fee for storing and streaming video content.
