Remark Office OMR® Version 8.0 Raises the Bar for Data Collection and Analysis Software

MALVERN, Pa., Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Gravic, Inc. is excited to announce the release of version 8 of our popular Remark Office OMR software. Remark Office OMR 8's flexibility and functionality sets new standards for plain paper scanning solutions. Remark Office OMR provides a solution for data collection, survey tabulation and test scoring using plain paper OMR ("fill in the bubble") forms and an image scanner. Users create and print their own forms in any word processing or form design program, without the need for registration marks, special inks or special paper. Customers have reported savings of thousands of dollars per year by eliminating the need for specially printed forms. Remark Office OMR works directly with a variety of TWAIN compatible scanners and supports virtually any image device through its ability to read common image formats (including TIFF, PCX, JPG, PDF). The ability to read image files allows the software to work with virtually any scanner or multi-function device. As forms are read into the software, the data from filled-in marks, barcodes and machine printed characters is entered into the Data Center where it can be cleaned, analyzed by Remark Quick Stats® or exported to over 35 different formats.

Gravic has enhanced our patented recognition algorithms to include our patent pending dynamic brightness compensation that automatically compensates for differences in form quality due to printer and scanner settings when printing and scanning forms. A new Recognition Tools feature allows users to better control the recognition settings, re-recognize images, and reset templates when skewed or offset forms and images are encountered. Other new features include the ability to email reports and data right from Remark Office OMR, full support for Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010, and major SPSS file format enhancements. The SPSS format has been completely overhauled, providing longer variable names, easier template set up and more customizable export. In addition, the software works in conjunction with Remark Web Survey® to automatically convert paper forms to HTML and integrate paper and online surveys.

Remark Office OMR includes Remark Quick Stats, an analysis component that grades tests, analyzes surveys, and generates many powerful reports. With Version 8 you have the ability to exclude NA (non-applicable) answer choices from the statistics and still see how many respondents chose the NA response. There are several new reports and report enhancements added to Remark Quick Stats, including a Question Mean report showing means for all questions in a concise format, Student Response Report showing score data for all students and questions on a test in a graphical format, Basic Item Analysis Report showing question response frequencies and, if grading, additional distractor and student score data, and support for scaled or translated scoring whereby an external table can be accessed in order to translate total, percent, or percentile score into a translated or scaled score.
