For the first time, employees can choose a health plan through a CHOICE Arrangement and open an HSA in one connected experience.

Employers that administer a CHOICE Arrangement (formerly known as ICHRA) with Remodel Health can now enhance their benefits package with an HSA that connects directly to the employee plan-shopping experience.

Lehman explained that most people are already spending money annually on medical expenses. The Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker found that the typical non-elderly family spends $1,400 on out-of-pocket medical costs each year.² By integrating the HSA with their benefits platform and payroll, it becomes easier for individuals to fund these expenses to save money.

While HSAs aren't new, the Remodel Health HSA connects HSA selection and enrollment directly to the CHOICE Arrangement shopping experience, so employees can choose coverage and set up their account in one streamlined process.

Before 2026, an individual market plan qualified for an HSA only if it met the federal high deductible health plan (HDHP) rules. Many Bronze plans did not. Recent legislation expanded HSA-eligibility to include all on-exchange Bronze and catastrophic plans along with their matching off-exchange plans. Lehman shared that this has moved Remodel Health's membership from being about 30% HSA-eligible to more than 40%.

Eligibility is only the start. When benefits live in separate systems, employees lack the context and guidance to connect the plan they pick to the account that goes with it. This means employees miss out on potential savings. The Remodel Health HSA extends the Remodel Health platform beyond members' medical insurance premiums to other out-of-pocket medical expenses.
