Reorg Research Expands Puerto Rico-Based Coverage Team
Senior Journalist to Provide Additional On-the-Ground Reporting
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Reorg Research, the leader in distressed debt research, analysis and breaking news, today announced the expansion of its existing senior editorial team in Puerto Rico with award winning journalist John Marino. Marino will strengthen Reorg's coverage in a region that continues to be critical to the financial markets.
Marino joins Reorg Research from Caribbean Business, where his coverage of Puerto Rico's fiscal and economic crisis in 2014 received recognition from the Overseas Press Club for excellence in business journalism. Over his 20-year career, Marino has also served as the editor of the San Juan Star and regularly contributed to Reuters, The Washington Post and The New York Times on economic and political conditions in Puerto Rico and throughout the Caribbean.
He will join senior reporter Kevin Mead in Puerto Rico. Prior to Reorg Research, Mead served as the online editor of Caribbean Business. Mead has spent more than a decade in newsroom positions at the San Juan Star, Bloomberg News and the Associated Press.
"Our subscribers have come to rely on us as a prime source for breaking news, exclusive policymaker interviews, rigorous analysis and a fresh perspective on Puerto Rico's ongoing fiscal situation," said Kent Collier, founder and CEO of Reorg Research. "John and Kevin's presence on the ground meaningfully enhances our ability to provide our clients with unmatched coverage of the multifaceted story that is important to our readers."
Reorg Research's recent Puerto Rico-related coverage, which has been cited by a number of major news outlets, has netted exclusive interviews with key government officials and business leaders, produced in-depth reporting on the constitutionality of the Puerto Rico Recovery Act and provided comprehensive coverage of political and financial developments on the island.
The new hire announced today follows Reorg Research's recent expansion into London, where the firm opened an office and hired two senior journalists. Combined with the Puerto Rico expansion, this development positions Reorg Research to continue to provide vital information on the global distressed debt, leveraged finance and event driven markets to its subscriber base of hedge-fund managers, lawyers and financial analysts.
