After the dissatisfactory result of the fourth pesticide selective examination in 2010, China intends to set a stricter regulation on the management against the adding recessive composition in pesticides and the new regulation may be added in the coming new Pesticide Management Regulation, planned to be released in the first half of 2011.
The topic of lifting a ban on methamidophos has been fiercely discussed in domestic pesticide market since CMA releases a standard of maximum residue limits (MRLs) for 54 pesticides used on food, including methamidophos, suggesting the authority is ok with the residue of methamidophos.
However, an official from CMA unofficially clarifies that the modification this time is out of the consideration of market supervision and food security and it has nothing to do with the production and application. China's promotion of acephate will enlarge the residue of methamidophos in the process of production and usage due to the fact that the metabolic product of acephate is methamidophos.
Moreover, according to customs statistics, annual total pesticide export volume and export value in 2010 reaches 613,000 tonnes and USD1.77 billion respectively, with respective growth rate of 20.8% and 25.1% over 2009, suggesting the gradual recovery of oversea pesticide market.
Besides, Yihai Kerry, a large foreign grain enterprise in China, intends to launch IPO in China's A share market after its failure of IPO in Hong Kong. It has attracted many domestic grain enterprises, especially large state-owned ones, such as CGRC. However, admitted by Yihai Kerry, the road of its IPO in China is much more complicated as no foreign enterprise has got listed in China.
China will carry out a stricter pesticide management regulation against secretly adding recessive composition in pesticides.
