DUBLIN, October 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Global Laser Filter Protection Market 2016-2020" report to their offering.
The global laser filter protection market is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 5.50% during the period 2016-2020.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: Laser marking for medical applications will be a key trend for market growth. Laser marking, another traditional method of marking, employs either CO2 or solid-state lasers operating in the infrared.
This is a thermal interaction where material is heated until it carbonizes, bleaches, or ablates to produce a color contrast. However, the heat can cause chemical reactions in the contents in the pills or produce surface relief. Bacterial growth on this surface may be difficult to clean. Although ultraviolet diode-pumped solid-state lasers can overcome all drawbacks of other technologies, their adoption in the past has been limited by their high cost.
According to the report, one of the key drivers for market growth will be refractive surgery as a substitute for eyeglasses. In the US, nearly 580,000 refractive surgeries were carried out in 2014. Surgery is more cost-effective for consumers as nearly 55% of those who undergo corrective surgery need not use any corrective devices for around five years after the surgery.
The rise in the number of expert surgeons, coupled with the decreasing cost of these surgeries will further stimulate the refractive surgery market. The number of optometrists and ophthalmologists are forecast to increase, and many of these professionals are expanding their portfolio of services to include refractive surgery.
