Verizon Hearst Media Partners will launch two channels this spring - RatedRed.Com and Seriously.TV. The former will include programming about music, food, politics, military and faith, while the latter will offer a comedic take on current events. The programming is intended for viewers to watch on their mobile devices and will be available via Verizon's Go90 streaming service.

The increase in the number of smartphones and tablets has led to a considerable rise in the consumption of digital content, according to a report on the global digital video content market, with the market expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.43% by 2019. Another report suggests the increasing availability of high-speed Internet is a key factor in consumers using their smartphones to stream online content.

Earlier this week, rival AT&T announced it would be rolling out three new ways to stream DirecTV content on wireless and wired devices.
