Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU): Micron was up 3.80% to US$5.59 on over 31.26 million shares, compared to its average volume of 29.48 million shares. The company said that it is in negotiations whether or not to buy Elpida Memory Inc., which earlier this year filed for Japan's largest-ever manufacturing bankruptcy. Elpida Memory had a debt of 448 billion yen, or US$5.5 billion, in its bankruptcy filing in February. Lately, the company said that it has reached a deal with software giant Oracle to settle a lawsuit filed by Oracle over price increases for memory chips. The lawsuit accused Micron Technology of hatching a "conspiracy" to increase DRAM chip prices for the period from Aug. 1, 1998, through at least June 15, 2002, and included a claim for damages. Micron said Oracle had agreed to a settlement and would release the company from all claims arising out of the litigation. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
