Resource Center of Somerset Announces Its Black Tie Gala Will Be Held at Historic Natirar
HILLSBOROUGH, N.J., June 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Friday, October 1, 2010, the Resource Center of Somerset will host its annual black tie Starry Night Gala at Natirar, located in Somerset County's historic Peapack-Gladstone, New Jersey.
The Resource Center of Somerset is a private, nonprofit agency which has been serving people affected by domestic abuse in Somerset County for over 30 years. Its services are comprehensive and include a 24 hour hotline, emergency housing for those escaping from imminent danger, counseling and case management as well as legal advocacy and community education.
Peter J. Jegou of Far Hills and President of the Board of Trustees of the Resource Center of Somerset reports, "We chose Natirar to host our event because Natirar has a very rich and distinguished history of helping women in need."
Until 1983, Natirar served as a refuge for women to convalesce from illnesses and other distressing events in their lives. Mrs. Kate Macy Ladd, who founded the convalescent facility shortly after the estate was built in 1912, called it her most important work and is noted as having said that "deserving gentlewomen who are compelled to depend upon their own exertions for support shall be entertained, without charge, for periods of time while convalescing from illnesses, recuperating from impaired health, or otherwise in need of rest."
"We are pleased that the Resource Center of Somerset chose the Mansion for this year's annual gala as we take Natirar's heritage of philanthropy very seriously. We are always eager to support our community and are proud of the outstanding work the Resource Center does for families in need," said Bob Wojtowicz, founder of the Resort at Natirar.
"Starry Night is our major fund raiser and I could not think of a more fitting location than Natirar," said Paloma Amar-Coleman, Executive Director of the Resource Center of Somerset. "We are delighted that Natirar has agreed to host this very special event."
Natirar's setting is not only historically significant but also inspirational. The grounds, along with the Mansion where women convalesced until the early 1980s, and the new event facility will provide a breathtaking setting in which to enjoy a night of wonderful food, dancing and dedicated friends, both new and old. It is also a night in which our community confirms that domestic violence is unacceptable anywhere.
