Response to Grand Isle Transmission Solicitations Announced
BOSTON, May 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Anbaric Transmission today announces that the "Transmission Customer Open Solicitation" for the Grand Isle Intertie Project ("GII") released on April 12, 2013 resulted in expressions of interest well in excess of the planned capacity of 400MW. GII, a transmission project between Plattsburgh, New York and Essex, Vermont will be capable of flowing 400 megawatts of electricity between upstate New York (from a substation in Plattsburgh) and Vermont (at a new Vermont Electric Power Company substation to be located near Essex, VT). Phase 1 of the solicitation is now closed.
Anbaric received responses from both energy suppliers as well as load-serving entities in New England. In order to allocate transmission in a clear and non-discriminatory manner, and in accordance with guidelines issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in a Final Policy Statement issued on January 17, 2013 on the "Allocation of Capacity on New Merchant Transmission Projects and New Cost-Based, Participant-Funded Transmission Projects: Priority Rights to New Participant Funded Transmission," Anbaric will now move to phase 2 of the process to allocate GII's "Transmission Scheduling Rights," or TSRs.
Bryan Sanderson of Anbaric Transmission states, "We are delighted to have received so much interest in the Grand Isle Intertie Project. We had expected to attract substantial interest in the capacity of the line, but this response certainly exceeded our expectations. The next step in the process will result in our selection of TSR customers."
The Grand Isle Intertie Project is being undertaken by GII Development LLC ("GIID, LLC"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Anbaric Holding, LLC. Anbaric Transmission is an active developer of independent transmission projects that include the Neptune Regional Transmission System, the Hudson Transmission Project, the Poseidon Project, and the Green Line Project.
