SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Sales leaders reporting in the 2010 Mid-Year Sales Update Survey confirm that 2009 recessionary pressures have abated. However, these leaders split on what will happen for the rest of 2010. Some see accelerating sales growth; others see low-to-no growth for 2010 as compared to 2009.
David Cichelli, senior vice president of The Alexander Group and the survey editor, cites how the recovery is affecting industries differently. Survey responses show extreme answers, indicating that some companies are experiencing more robust growth while others remain suspended in a low-to-no growth expense-controlled environment. Those entering a growth period are making sales effectiveness investments, such as new incremental staffing, while those with limited growth prospects are focusing on cost controls and sales productivity improvements.
More than 190 corporate sales departments managing over 100,000 sales personnel provided web survey responses as of the first week in August 2010.
