Restaurant Technology Firm Siftit Enters Baltimore-Washington Market
BALTIMORE and WASHINGTON, Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Siftit, a rapidly growing technology platform for restaurants, announced today its launch into the Baltimore-Washington market. Headquartered in Atlanta, Siftit connects restaurants and suppliers through a simple, mobile tool. It currently operates in Atlanta and Dallas.
"We help independent restaurants succeed in a competitive market," said Siftit founder and CEO Mark Haidet. "The growing restaurant scene in the Baltimore-Washington area makes it the perfect place for us to expand our impact."
Haidet founded Siftit to solve a problem he discovered when he entered the restaurant business after NCR Corp. bought Radiant Systems Inc., the software firm where he served as CFO.
"I was shocked to see the process independent restaurant operators use for ordering and managing their food cost," Haidet said. "The state of art in the industry is a clipboard and telephone, often with no advance knowledge of what purchase prices are. These are not the tools I was expecting after my 20 years in retail technology."
Designed by restaurant owners and tech-world veterans, Siftit brings the kitchen into the 21st century to simply solve the age-old industry problems in the purchasing process.
"We've been able to save time, save money, and re-invest our savings," said Nick Leahy, chef and part owner of Saltyard Restaurant in Atlanta. "We've taken our ordering process to the next level."
Siftit's Web-based solution works on any computer or mobile device.
"I use Siftit to order directly from the cooler on my iPad," said Russell Hays, executive chef at Eugene Kitchen. "It couldn't be easier."
While the company continues to expand its restaurant customer base, it is also building tools to help supplier's better focus and efficiently trade with their independent restaurant customers.
