Rhema Law Successfully Defends Client Coast Building and Plumbing in Patent Infringement Lawsuit Involving U.S. Patent 7,858,149

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Rhema Law Group, P.C. ("Rhema Law") and Coast Building and Plumbing, Inc. ("Coast Building") announced that it has obtained a dismissal of a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC (" Pipe Restoration") involving U.S. Patent No. 7,858,149 (the "'149 Patent"). The '149 Patent covers a method and system for coating and sealing inside piping systems and is branded as the "epipe" process by ACE DuraFlow Systems, LLC.

Pipe Restoration alleged that Coast Building's competing pipe restoration epoxy process was infringing one or more claims by the '149 patent. Implementing an aggressive patent defense strategy which included initiating a patent reexamination on the '149 Patent, Coast Building was able to call into question the validity and enforceability of the '149 Patent. "From the outset, we questioned the validity of the '149 patent as it covers a process of epoxy based pipe restoration that has been around for several decades," said Rhema Law Partner and lead defense counsel John D. Tran. "Based upon our prior art evidence, we attacked the '149 Patent on multiple fronts which aimed to put pressure on the Plaintiff and take the battle to them.
