LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., Dec. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Laguna College Art + Design (LCAD), a premier art and design college, hosted internationally recognized figure sculptor and educator Richard MacDonald to speak about his illustrious 30-year career.
MacDonald's art has been showcased in numerous one-man exhibitions in the US, Europe and Asia and is featured in private collections including those of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Dean Koontz, Leann Rimes and opera legend Luciano Pavarotti.
MacDonald is selecting a life size "heroic" figure sculpture to loan to the college. Because of his continued involvement with LCAD, MacDonald has also generously donated to the sculpture department a full scholarship to his five-day Masters Workshop Series.
"I am so pleased to have connected with Laguna College of Art + Design," says MacDonald. "I see a school that focuses on what I am passionate about – the language and principles of representational art."
MacDonald's many accomplishments include the sculptures "The Flair," a 26' gymnast caught in a maneuver and "Momentum," a 15' sculpture celebrating the U.S. Open golf championship. He is represented by Christopher Clark Fine Art in San Francisco, Dawson Cole Fine Art in Laguna Beach and Carmel, Bellagio in Las Vegas, and Cirque du Soleil among other galleries.
"Richard is a natural teacher and devoted mentor who works tirelessly to increase the appreciation of figurative art throughout the world," says LCAD President Jonathan Burke. "It is a great honor for one of the most prominent figurative sculptors to recognize LCAD's devotion to the figurative tradition."
