SALT LAKE CITY, July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As Utah experiences some of its worst heat waves in six years, Richter7, a Salt Lake City-based advertising and public relations agency, has mandated a "No Pants" party from today to mid-August as a way to stay cool during the summer.
For the sixth straight year, Richter7 employees will be expected to wear shorts, skirts, capris, kilts or saris – anything but pants – to work until the heat lets up, even in business meetings with clients. All done in good humor, any employee caught wearing pants during this time will be guilted into paying a 25-cent fine for rebelling.
"This is one way of keeping everyone comfortable and relaxed during some of the hottest days we've seen in years," said Tim Brown, Richter7 partner in charge of staying cool. "We've actually used less air conditioning because wearing something other than long pants cools you down naturally."
Salt Lake City historically registers its hottest days of the year in July and August, with temperatures already reaching over 100 degrees for several days last week. On days exceeding 100 degrees, Richter7 will hold a "Cool Down" party, providing frozen treats for its 50-person agency.
"Dancing to our Richter7 rock band, having spontaneous cheers at meetings and joining fun activities like the No Pants party helps to build strong relationships among coworkers," said Brown. "Even though our main focus each day is to do the best work we can for each client, infusing fun into our daily routines is part of our culture."
"Even clients urge us to come to meetings in no pants. They seem to have a lot of fun with our creative expressions and applaud the effort."
Named Utah's "Best of State" advertising agency eight times, Richter7 is nationally recognized for effective advertising, public relations and design for clients from Wisconsin to Hawaii.
