Rioja Winery Bodegas Casa Primicia Enters U.S. Market With Vin Divino
Premier Wine Importer Vin Divino Adds Award-Winning Rioja Winery to Portfolio
CHICAGO, July 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Vin Divino, the Chicago-based importer and national sales and marketing company, today announced a partnership with Rioja winery, Bodegas Casa Primicia. Effective immediately, Vin Divino will be the U.S. importer for the prominent Spanish wine producer.
Casa Primicia is located in the Rioja region of Spain in one of the oldest buildings in the medieval town of Laguardia. Up until the late 1800's the building was used to store tithes (taxes), consisting of harvested grains, grapes and primicias, "first fruits." In 1973, Julian Madrid a local grape grower, rescued the historic building and restored the cellars. Through his pioneering spirit he founded the winery and retained the name Casa Primicia. After years of restoration, the winery opened to the public in 2009. Today, the winery remains dedicated to challenging itself and producing superior wines year after year while staying true to its rich history.
"Vin Divino's approach to market and strong distribution network makes them an ideal partner for us," said Iker Madrid, third-generation owner at Casa Primicia. "We are pleased to join their thoughtfully assembled portfolio." Len Nowicki, President of Vin Divino, adds, "The addition of Casa Primicia to our portfolio signals our continued expansion into new regions and our dedication to representing brands that are focused on excellence, quality and innovation."
Casa Primicia produces primarily single varietal wines from the Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Garnacha and Graciano grapes. Each wine is a true expression of Rioja's native soils. Vineyards span the Rioja region and stretch from the foot of the Cantabrian Mountains to the slopes near the River Ebro. The winery owns over 125 acres in the prestigious Alavesa area of Rioja, and works with over 40 growers in the region supplying the winery with the most important factor in achieving a quality wine, quality fruit. In recent years, Casa Primicia has received numerous awards and high honors at an international level.
