Risky Business Wins Top Awards for Ad Agency

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A boutique branding agency in Los Angeles, MVC Agency rolled the dice and won big with client work for Emani cosmetics and singer-songwriter Pepe Aguilar.

MVC placed in the top 3 out of more than 5,000 submissions from 25 countries for the Summit Creative Awards®. A coveted honor for small and medium sized agencies, MVC was a two-time winner this year. They received bronze in both the Logo Redesign category for their Emani rebrand and the Packaging Series category for their Pepe Aguilar packaging design.

MVC created an entirely new category of cosmetics and skincare to represent the Emani brand. This categorization, Natural Emanates, was a projection of the brand name, Emani, as well as a reflection of the natural and vegan products they offer. Emani brand owner Michelle Doan was wary of the risks of rebranding, admitting, "Rebranding is a daunting and scary process for any established boutique brand. MVC's commitment and passion to our project paralleled ours at the corporate level. The new look of Emani was overwhelmingly well-received and we continue to attract new consumers."

Pepe Aguilar, a popular singer of ranchera music, was looking to create a bridge between his traditional Mexican music and his passion for newer styles like rock and pop. MVC developed designs that could represent the duality of his style while paying respect to his roots. Pepe Aguilar's manager, Gerardo Vergara, was pleased to hear about MVC's award. Vergara stated, "MVC did an amazing job translating the vision we had for the albums into designs that not only popped out on shelves, but were distinguishable online and on mobile apps.
