WHY: |
The RMHC/HACER Scholarship Program was created in 1985 with support from McDonald's to address the low college enrollment rate. Research shows that only 22 percent of young Latinos are enrolled in college and only 8 percent of adult Latinos hold college degrees. Financial difficulties are a primary factor in a student's decision to not continue their education. Scholarship programs such as RMHC/HACER lend a hand to low-income Hispanic students and through this round table discussion, the RMHC/HACER National Scholarship recipients hope to inspire other Hispanic students to pursue a college degree. |
