WASHINGTON, June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Washington Media Group (WMG) has named Robert Johnson its new President responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the company, including client service, business development and strategic growth.
Mr. Johnson brings 36 years of experience in media relations, public affairs and management to his new assignment. Serving as a Bush Administration appointee, he handled public affairs for the Transportation Security Administration following the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001; managed media relations as the head of public affairs under Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta, and was Chief of Staff to Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters.
"Clients trust the WMG team with their business and their reputation. I look forward to joining this top-notch group of professionals as we work together to deliver the results our clients expect and deserve," Johnson said.
Johnson previously directed public affairs for former Arizona Governors Fife Symington and Jane Hull, and media relations for former Arizona congressmen Jim Kolbe and Jon Kyl. He also logged time as a broadcast journalist and wire service reporter in several West Coast markets, and has private sector experience leading public relations and public affairs efforts in three Arizona firms.
WMG, which began more than 10 years ago as a crisis communications firm, has since grown into a full-service communications and creative services firm with a heavy emphasis on digital solutions and investigative research to serve clients around the world.
"As our business grows, it is essential that we maintain our leadership position as the firm that delivers effective public relations strategies and services," said WMG Chairman and CEO Gregory L. Vistica. "Robert brings a unique perspective forged by decades of communications success not just in the Nation's Capitol but across the United States. We are excited to bring his energy and leadership experience to our team."
