Roger Federer's Former Coach Supports Initiative for Shift in America to European Red Clay Culture
A new movement in America to begin the mass adoption of traditional European red clay tennis courts commended by Peter Lundgren.
PETOSKEY, Mich., June 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- RedClayUSA announces today its plans to "import" European red clay culture as a way to structurally enhance American tennis.
The former coach of legendary Roger Federer, Peter Lundgren added his praise to the first major effort to arouse Americans to join the sensible European cultural tradition of starting young and growing old on natural red clay.
"Americans are long overdue experiencing the healthy benefits and aesthetics of the red clay culture enjoyed in Europe. All the artistic play, for which Roger is known, plus the down-in-the-dirt excitement of today's game," says Lundgren.
RCUSA is having discussions with several premier resort operators and developers for potential site locations, including in Michigan and Florida.
The adoption plan includes a nationwide campaign extolling the physical joint-saving advantages, plus some reverence that comes with a natural earth court beneath your feet. The movement will be spearheaded by the construction of a red clay mega-complex, which will showcase newly conceived TV-production techniques for showing exciting daily live tennis on TV and the web.
RCUSA will broadcast live tennis everyday from a conceptual "Hollywood stage" court at the epicenter of the planned complex. It's proposed as a transformative step for the sport: cultural immersion of red clay by constant broadcast content from the "home" court.
The broadcast of live tennis is expected to expand the global tennis fan base through a "United Nations" programming of international professional and amateur players in competition, exhibitions, lessons, etc.
The 365-live stream is considered an evolution in tennis viewing, watching a stadium court specifically designed to optimize TV/web viewing, rather than holding spectators watching live.
European red clay is a practical choice to promote internationally, as it's remained the most traditional of courts everywhere - - except in the U.S. Typical American clay courts, with their unfortunate unfriendly color for TV, seem a victim of the digital TV age, where attractive appearance is rewarded.
Founding memberships to RCUSA are open to national tennis federations, sponsors, and patrons. The public RCUSA resort destination will feature year-round facilities.
RCUSA CEO Brian Osterberg says, "We're pleased to start the process and begin pursuing the ideal of importing the European red clay culture. Peter and I both feel it's the best surface for young players learning the modern game. And it's still the classical surface for simple reasons like natural feel and beauty. A red clay court surrounded by greenery is simply stunning on a sunny day. And of course, kids just love to slide on it."
RedClay USA LLC is a newly-formed Michigan corporation enlisting partners and patrons for growing European red clay use in the USA and internationally. Peter Lundgren coached Roger Federer for seven years.
