Royal Reign Is Crowning Moment for La Reina Linda

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, May 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On a summer day in 1998, Christina Martinez was on her way to meet a friend when her life was changed forever. A car accident left her severely injured, nearly bleeding to death, and undergoing major surgeries to reconstruct her facial features damaged as she flew through the windshield. Fast-forward 19 years, and there is a diamond tiara sitting atop that beaming face.

Martinez has been named Lo Bello Women's Association's 2017 La Reina Linda for her accomplishments as an entrepreneur and leader in the community. It's an honor, she says, that she doesn't take for granted. "In the months after the accident if you would have told me I'd be a queen of anything someday, I would have thought you were joking," she says. "Those tough moments in life truly make you appreciate the special times, and being Fiesta Royalty is definitely a highlight of my life so far."

As La Reina Linda, Christina will be a beacon of joy alongside Rey Feo for children throughout the community as she visits schools and promotes education. And in a twist of fate, on April 17^th her royal duties took her to University Hospital, the same place she was airlifted to after her accident. "I'm sure it's going to bring up all sorts of memories for me," says Martinez. "They literally saved my life, so to be able to give back just by bringing some smiles to the patients there will mean the world to me."

In addition to her newfound Fiesta fame, Christina is the owner of Luxury Home Magazine in San Antonio and Austin, as well as Spanish Grove Academy, a Spanish immersion preschool. Serving as the official representative of the Lo Bello Women's Association during Fiesta, she will help raise thousands of dollars in scholarships.

As a small business owner, she recognized how difficult it is to succeed in business without an education. As a result, she was determined to assist others in obtaining an education so that they would not have to experience some of the obstacles that she had to overcome.
