Ruby + Associates Completes Design Project for ThyssenKrupp

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruby + Associates, a constructability-focused structural engineering firm, announced today that it has completed work on the ThyssenKrupp Steel facility in Calvert, Alabama.  Working with CH2M Hill, Ruby's involvement on the ThyssenKrupp project included structural design for three buildings (two Hot Dip Galvanizing storage buildings and a Hot Strip Mill) and a Slab Yard Crane Runway Structure.

A primary challenge on the ThyssenKrupp project was a fast-track timeline that required a streamlined schedule.  Ruby applied its constructability expertise to create a comprehensive, cohesive plan to design the crane girders, columns and trusses for the three buildings (approximately 1.5 million square feet) in just four months.  Ruby was also able to accommodate multiple process design changes requested during the condensed process.
