Rupari Food Services, Inc. Announces Subsidiary of Carl Buddig & Company is Successful Bidder in Court Supervised Sale Process

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill., May 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rupari Food Services, Inc., a leading producer of branded and private label restaurant-quality barbequed meats, including Tony Roma's® and Butcher's Prime® retail brands, announced today that a subsidiary of family owned and operated Carl Buddig & Company is the successful bidder in the sale process previously approved by the Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware.

"While we entertained interest from several other potential bidders, the Company did not receive any additional qualified bids by the extended May 25th deadline, thus negating the need for the scheduled auction," said Rupari Chief Executive Jack Kelly. "We will seek approval of the sale at the previously scheduled approval hearing on June 6, 2017."

The Company has been working with Buddig, a leading manufacturer of lunch meat and sausage products, since the Company filed for Chapter 11 protection last month to ensure an easy transition for Rupari's employees and operations through the closing of the sale.  Buddig and the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Local 1546, have been working to conclude a new collective bargaining agreement that will be in place following the sale.

Once the sale is approved, it is estimated that the transition and closing should be completed in mid-June.
