Rush Limbaugh & Barack Obama Distant Cousins (26 degrees), See How at SXSW's KiN2.me
AUSTIN, Texas, March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Conservative Talk Jock Rush Limbaugh and President Barack Obama are actually distant cousins separated by only 26 family relationships through Rush's father and Obama's mother's line. They share a common ancestor named Mary Frances Tucker, born in 1844.
The two recently clashed over comments made by Limbaugh about Sandra Fluke, the college student who testified in favor of contraception provisions in Obama's healthcare legislation.
KiN2.me is a new Facebook application that launched at the SXSW Interactive event being held this week in Austin, Texas. SXSW is famously the launching grounds of such companies as Twitter and GroupMe.
KiN2.me is built upon a database of over 250,000,000 connected genealogical records amassed by a sister company in the genealogy space over the last 12 years. KiN2.me allows users to log in using their Facebook account and see how famous people are related to each other. They can even enter the names and birthdates of their own relatives and map themselves back to KiN2.me's database and see how they themselves are connected to famous people...or even their Facebook friends.
"There are lots of family history research sites if you have a lot of money and know what you're doing, but KiN2.me turns the industry on its ear by making the family connections that exist all around us visible in a fun and engaging way," says KiN2.me's President, Colin House. "Like this Rush to Obama connection. It's there. Now people can see it. Now THEY can see it. Perhaps they should be more civil to each other since, after all, they're family, right?"
KiN2.me has been receiving rave reviews at the SXSW festival all week.

KiN2™ is the leader in family relationship analysis having pioneered the KiN2 KiNection Finder™ and KiN360™ family relationship manager. Over a decade in development, KiN2's proprietary algorithms map family trees by searching family relationships (parents, siblings, spouses and children), rather than just searching individual names and dates like traditional genealogy websites. KiN2 matches its proprietary backend technology with cutting edge design and a viscerally intuitive online interface. Learn more at http://kin2.me or http://www.facebook.com/kin2me.
Please note: you must have a valid Facebook account to use KiN2.me.
KiN2.me is based in Utah but launched its Beta site at the SXSW Trade Show in Austin, Texas: Booth #608. Because KiN2.me is in Beta, there may still be bugs or errors on the site.
