LOS ANGELES, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Alexander Vasilkin, a Russian millionaire, has moved to Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, to take over the Internet. His goal: to discover and expose animators and make them rich, one month at a time. The first "season" ended in a win for the Kings, one of the five teams competing for stardom. This new animated sport has grown so quickly that expansion teams have been thrown into the fray, and the grand prize has been increased.
After the success of the first season (seasons are each one month long), prize money was increased to $15,000, and three new expansion teams have been added: the Crocodiles, Eagles and Dragons (team profiles available at http://www.adasport.com). "We received such a great response from animators around the world," says Alexander Vasilkin, founder and CEO of the Animation Dance Association, "that we were forced to add three expansion teams in order to accommodate. We want more and more animators to display their talent to the world, and so... we had to expand."
The Kings lived up to their name by defeating the Cowboys with their clip "Dog Day Afternoon" in the finals of Season 1. Not only did they secure the $10,000 purse, but also the respect of the league. "There was something to be brought - animation - and the Kings brought it," Kings captain Brett Newton touted after their victory. The Kings are now faced with the challenge of defending their "crown" against more competitors with more money on the line.
