Russian School Of Mathematics (RSM) Hosts Annual Math Olympiad; Invites Competitors To Learn How Their Math Knowledge Ranks On A Global Scale
NEWTON, Mass., Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Russian School of Mathematics (RSM), the award-winning afterschool math program for K-12 students, will host its second mathematical Olympiad this February. Students in Grades 2 - 9 are encouraged to participate.
In keeping with the rich tradition and prestige surrounding Olympiad competitions, RSM held its first-annual mathematical Olympiad in 2014. Nearly 2,000 students participated in this event! The RSM Olympiad was designed by a team of math professionals in the spirit of traditional international math competitions. It features challenging non-routine problems that promote a deeper level of thinking. The competition offers participants a chance to demonstrate their mathematical ingenuity and creative problem solving abilities.
"Participating in math competitions is a great way for students to boost their thinking about math in a creative and non traditional way, and can be a valuable addition to their college applications," says Irina Khavinson, RSM co-Founder. "Because of the international style of this Olympiad, it also allows parents to see how their children perform on math questions practiced by their peers in Europe and Asia."
The RSM Olympiad will be held at RSM branches throughout the country on February 17 - 20th. Registration is free, but space is limited. To secure your spot or to try some problems from last year's Olympiad, please visit http://www.russianschool.com/olympiad.
