Sabra Dipping Company's Recall Prompts Secondary Recall Of Mediterranean Style Chicken With Hummus Sandwiches In Washington Due To Possible Health Risk
IRVING, Texas, Nov. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- LSG Sky Chefs Supply Chain Solutions, Inc. ("LSG Sky Chefs") announced today that it is issuing a voluntary recall of 103 units of Mediterranean Style Chicken with Hummus sandwiches. The hummus spread used in the affected sandwiches was recalled by Sabra Dipping Company due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Approximately 103 Mediterranean Style Chicken with Hummus sandwiches, packaged in the plastic clam shell, net wt. 8 oz., UPC 0 52548 58888 5, were produced and distributed to 7-Eleven stores in Washington. No other Sky Chefs' products or retailers are involved in this voluntary recall.
Consumers who purchased this sandwich at 7-Eleven stores between November 18, 2016 and November 20, 2016 are asked to dispose of the product or return it to a 7-Eleven store for a full refund. Additionally, consumers should also look for a "best buy" date located on the back of the package of November 19, 2016 through November 21, 2016.
The FDA and LSG Sky Chefs have received no reports of illnesses associated with this sandwich to date. The quality of our products and safety of our consumers is our foremost concern. The company will continue to work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
