WARRENDALE, Pa., Dec. 20, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A sophisticated, web-based software designed to assist in the publishing of technical papers is now available to SAE's international sections.
SAE's international sections are increasingly sponsoring conferences in which technical papers are presented. The software - MyTechZone - enables conference organizers, authors and reviewers to track the progress of technical papers.
"SAE has international sections reaching the critical mass of volunteers needed to develop their own events," said Colette Wright, Automotive Sector Manager, Engineering Events Development and Management, SAE International. "The MyTechZone software gives them a terrific tool for managing the process of getting technical papers ready for presentation."
The software manages the entire technical paper presentation process and simplifies the communication between parties, from creation of the abstract to the final product. It enables reviewers to make comments and suggestions at a single location. Rather than having multiple reviewers corresponding with authors via email with attachments, all the comments and changes can be made with the technical paper housed at MyTechZone. Organizers are better able to manage and monitor the process because of the single location.
Wright called MyTechZone, "a one-stop shop for organizers, authors and reviewers."
SAE International's Turin Section is using MyTechZone for its June "TO ZEV – Highlighting the Latest Powertrain, Vehicle and Infomobility Technologies Conference." The Naples Section is using it for "ICE2011, 10th International Conference on Engines & Vehicles," in September.
SAE International staff are available to train and support the international sections' efforts using the tool, assist with marketing the conference on the SAE International website, and publish the resulting peer-reviewed papers.
