Schools Receive Tool Kits for Getting Kids Active and Healthy
BOULDER, Colo., Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Safe Routes to School National Partnership, a nation-wide program advocating safe walking and bicycling to school to improve children's lifestyles, and CLIF Kid®, maker of organic snacks for active kids, are launching a "Walk and Bike to School" partnership initiative for schools nationwide. The recently launched program leads up to Walk and Bike to School Month this October.
"We look forward to working with CLIF Kid because of their long standing commitment to healthy and active lifestyles for kids," said Deb Hubsmith of Safe Routes to School National Partnership. "We all need to work hard to spread the word about the importance of exercise and the benefits incorporating physical activity to daily life. This is an excellent start."
Program toolkits include: a "how-to" guide on hosting a successful Walk and Bike to School Day, reflective stickers for bikes and helmets, event signage for schools, and a variety of CLIF Kid snacks for students. Toolkits are available through the Safe Routes to School National Partnership and a limited number are also available through a contest hosted on the CLIF Kid Facebook page.
"CLIF Kid is all about encouraging kids to get outside and being active," said Jennifer Yun, brand director, CLIF Kid. "We know it is essential to help build healthy, active communities, and kids participating at this age can be a catalyst for healthy change. We're extremely proud to be a part of this program and moving toward a healthier 2012/13 school year."
