SafeEraser Version 3.2.0 Introduces Photo Recompression for iPhone Camera Roll

VANCOUVER, Oct. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SafeEraser - a desktop software that keeps iDevices clean, secure and optimized today announced an update which offers users the ability to significantly reduce the size of photos on their iDevices. Using an advanced photo recompressing technology, the popular software from Wondershare enables users to free up valuable space on their iDevices without affecting their photos' perceptual quality. SafeEraser is also the world's first application to support downsizing photos for iPhones.

As measured by the Apple App Store earlier this month, only 47% of actively used iDevices are running iOS 8. Half of the iDevices have not updated to iOS 8. The iOS 8 update requires nearly 5 GB storage depending on the iDevice model. Updating to the latest iOS 8 over the cloud can be difficult especially for those with only 16GB of storage space. 5 GB means a big chunk of photos, videos, music and apps. To help with this situation, SafeEraser is capable of reducing the file size of JPEG photos taken by iDevices by up to 4X, or 75% reduction on size while the resulting photos are visually identical to the original photos. A JPEG encoding algorithm is adopted in SafeEraser to imitate the perceptual qualities of the human visual system to determine the maximum amount of compression which can be applied to each individual photo without loss of quality.

Users can now compress all the photos taken by an iDevice in one-click and automatically downsize the iPhoto camera roll's size by up to 75%. Meanwhile, an intact backup of the original photos will be saved on PC for future hi-res use.
