Safety-Kleen Appoints Knapp as Chief Marketing Officer
New executive position to report to CEO
PLANO, Texas, July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc., has appointed Curtis C. Knapp as chief marketing officer and senior vice president, effective as of July 1, 2011. As the company's first-ever Chief Marketing Officer, Knapp will be responsible for all aspects of Safety-Kleen's marketing, corporate image and brand initiatives.
"In today's business world, marketing and communications are more important than ever, and I am very pleased to have Curt Knapp, with his deep marketing and industry experience, filling this vital new role from day one," said Safety-Kleen CEO and President Robert Craycraft. "I am confident he will help drive our continued growth."
Knapp will lead development of the company's overall marketing and branding strategy, ensuring that Safety-Kleen's products and services are aligned with the company's strategic plans and with its customers' needs in the oil re-refining, parts cleaning and environmental solutions markets.
Knapp joined Safety-Kleen in December 2008 as vice president of channel marketing, responsible for development of new products and distribution channels for Safety-Kleen's high-quality, environmentally friendly lines of recycled products.
In his new role as Chief Marketing Officer, Knapp will build on his success in developing and implementing the company's EcoPower Motor Oil program, under which a national distribution network is now selling EcoPower re-refined motor oil to hundreds of rapid oil change outlets, car dealers, tire stores and automotive garages across the U.S. and Canada. The EcoPower network also services large national vehicle fleets, such as Ryder Trucking, who are seeking ways to reduce their own carbon footprint by using re-refined motor oils.
Prior to joining Safety-Kleen, Knapp was senior vice president for The Marketing Arm, a marketing agency based in Dallas, and also served as vice president of marketing for Waste Management. Knapp has more than 23 years of senior-level management experience in the lubricants field, previously holding positions of vice president of marketing and sales for Sunoco Lubricants, chief operating officer for Warren Distribution, and director-level positions in marketing and supply for Castrol North America.
Knapp earned an MBA in finance from the Rutgers Graduate School of Management, and an undergraduate degree in biochemical engineering from Rutgers University. He resides in Las Calinas, Texas, with his wife of 31 years.
