Safety-Kleen Sponsors Earth Day Dallas Celebration, Helps Area Businesses Keep in Balance with Environment
Company is nation's largest used oil recycler, producer of "green" EcoPower motor oil
PLANO, Texas, April 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc., producer of environmentally-responsible EcoPower motor oil, is joining other Dallas-area businesses to sponsor Earth Day Dallas this Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Arts District.
"Safety-Kleen is a premier provider of environmental services across North America, and we're proud to join with other local businesses as an Earth Day Dallas sponsor," said Safety-Kleen President and CEO Robert Craycraft. "Our focus is on helping businesses keep in balance with the environment by properly managing a wide variety of industrial materials and, as the largest used oil recycler in the country, we are pleased to join others in celebrating Earth Day."
More than 150 vendors will be participating in Earth Day Dallas with food, fun and entertainment, and
Safety-Kleen will feature its EcoPower brand "green" motor oil at booths #518 and #519 on the corner of Pearl and Crockett Streets.
Safety-Kleen joins Central Market, Eco Dallas, Community Waste Disposal, Green Mountain Energy, Trinity Industries, D Magazine, TXU Energy and E-Waste Disposal as 2011 Earth Day Dallas sponsors.
"By recycling and re-refining used oil, Safety-Kleen avoids the emissions of more than one million metric tons of greenhouse gases annually, when compared to refining from crude and burning used oil for energy," said Dave Sprinkle, Safety-Kleen's executive vice president of oil refining. "That is equivalent to taking 190,000 cars off the road every year."
EcoPower is premium-quality oil produced by re-refining used motor oil and it is certified to meet or exceed the quality standards set by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Society of Automotive Engineers for new motor oil. Safety-Kleen collected more than 200 million gallons of used oil in 2010 and recycled approximately 139 million gallons into base oil products for use in the marketplace.
"EcoPower makes solid environmental sense," Spinkle said. "Turning used oil into high-quality lubricating products conserves a valuable resource and removes a potential pollutant from the environment, and the end product is identical to traditional motor oils and meets the same stringent specifications."
