PLEASANTON, Calif., Aug. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture's recall of some salad products produced by Taylor Farms, So Ono Food Products and Triple B Corporation, Safeway is voluntarily recalling Signature Cafe Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, which is supplied by the three companies, because the included packet of salad dressing contains an undeclared allergen — eggs. The product has the following UPC and "Use By" Dates in the indicated states:
Use By Dates
All states except
Alaska and Hawaii
The "Use By" date can be located on the top label of the package. The salad is packaged in a green plastic tray with a clear plastic lid. The dressing packet is inside the container. While the dressing packet contains eggs, the salad itself does not have eggs as an ingredient.
The recalled Signature Cafe Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad was sold at all Safeway and Safeway-owned stores, including Carrs, Dominick's, Genuardi's, Pak 'N Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vons.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life- threatening allergic reaction if they consume egg-containing products. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the ingredient egg was not listed on the product label. At least one illness has been reported in connection with this recall.
Customers are asked to discard the product or return it to their local store for a full refund. Customers who have questions about the recall can contact Safeway at 1-800-SAFEWAY or Rhonda Rallios at Taylor Farms at 209-830-3186. Hawaii customers can also contact Shenkar Pitchiah at So Ono Food Products at 808-792-2809. Alaska customers can also contact Mike Ruff at Triple B Corporation at 206-625-1412, ext. 8074.
