Safeway Voluntarily Recalls Various Refrigerated and Deli Products in Cooperation with Recalls by Reser's Fine Foods
Products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes
PLEASANTON, Calif., Oct. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In cooperation with the Reser's Fine Foods and Taylor Farmsrecalls of products that may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, Safeway is voluntarily recalling several products supplied by or containing ingredients supplied by Reser's Fine Foods or Taylor Farms. The items are displayed behind the glass at the full-service deli or in self-serve coolers in the deli department.

Listeria is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may suffer only short term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant woman.
There are no confirmed illnesses associated with these products.
