AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Celtic Cultural Center of Texas presents St. Patrick's Day Austin at the new Shoal Crossing Event Center located at 8611 North Mopac in Austin, Texas. Coming Sunday, March 17th, 12pm-9pm.
The 10th Annual St. Patrick's Day Austin Festival is one of the best places to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Central Texas! A commitment to authentic Irish culture without the leprechauns, just fierce Irish tradition and fun. There will be beer, but it will not be green. It will be the color that Nature and Arthur Guinness intended. Think less "twee" and more "trad."
Headlining Irish artists include award winning GOITSE flying in from LIMERICK, IRELAND and DUBLIN Accordion legend JAMES KEANE for what the Irish call "fierce tradition." Local Celtic artists include RAISING JANE, JEFF MOORE and JON MILTON, THE TEA MERCHANTS, THE SILVER THISTLE PIPES and DRUMS, INISHFREE IRISH DANCE and more. The event website has the full lineup and schedule that's happening on two stages.
Other exciting elements are a children's storytelling hour with the Gaelic League of Austin, who will also be hosting two Irish language workshops, fun for all ages. And as Saint Patrick's Day is wholly an Irish American tradition, the CAPITAL CITY'S MEN'S CHORUS will sing a selection of American Irish ballads to compliment your Texas style corned beef and cabbage.
The annual Wearin O' The Green will have plenty O' free parking available. Discounted tickets, including group prices, are now available online. Proceeds benefit the CCC of Texas and is funded in part by the City of Austin through the Economic Growth & Redevelopment Services Office.
Don't worry, they will not be checking family trees at the door. Everyone is Irish on St. Paddy's Day. In the words of the founding director, "We are immensely proud of our Irish heritage. With anything else, when you have something you are this proud of, you just want to share it with the world."
