Saline auctioneer Helmer youngest ever elected to Michigan Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame
SALINE, Mich., March 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Thirty-eight-year-old Saline auctioneer David Helmer has become the youngest person ever to be inducted in the Michigan Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.
"I was very surprised when I was announced," said Helmer, who is widely known for his work with approximately 40 non-profit organizations, including the Detroit Tigers Foundation, the charitable arm for the Detroit Tigers. He joins his father, Jerry Helmer, who was inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame in 2007. "This is truly something I never even considered as a possibility at my age. It's also incredibly special to be following the footsteps of my father in this regard," he added.
Helmer was inducted into the Hall of Fame during the association's recent annual conference in Lansing. Also inducted were Martin (Barney) Barnhart, of Reading, Mich., and Gwyn Besner, of Acme, Mich. Helmer also presented a seminar during the conference.
Helmer is an auctioneer and principal of Braun & Helmer Auction Service and is the owner of The Super Auction, a major Midwest auction event that brings together the efforts of multiple auction companies twice a year in Ann Arbor to sell estates and collections. He is one of the founders of The Auctioneer Channel and was the Michigan bid calling champion in 2006. He has also served as the MAA's president.
