Salt Lake City Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Kian Eftekhari Named a 2026 Salt Lake Magazine Top Doctor

Kian Eftekhari, MD, a board-certified oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and founder of the Eyelid Center of Utah, has been selected for Salt Lake Magazine's 2026 Top Doctors list. The recognition highlights his subspecialty work in eyelid, orbital and facial surgery for patients across the Salt Lake City area and the Wasatch Front.

SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Kian Eftekhari, MD, founder of the Eyelid Center of Utah, has been named a 2026 Top Doctor by Salt Lake Magazine. The recognition appears in the magazine's annual Top Doctors issue, which identifies physicians practicing in the Salt Lake City region across a range of specialties. Dr. Eftekhari is recognized in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery, a subspecialty devoted to the eyelids, tear system, orbit and surrounding facial structures.

The Top Doctors list is compiled through a peer-review physician survey administered for Salt Lake Magazine by Professional Research Services (PRS), a research firm based in Troy, Michigan, that conducts peer-review surveys for city and regional magazines nationwide. Only licensed physicians — MDs, DOs and DPMs — practicing along the Wasatch Front, in Southern Utah and in the Park City area are eligible to vote; patients, family members and friends are not. Voting physicians are asked to nominate local peers they would trust with their own care or the care of a loved one. Registration and voting are free, and physicians cannot purchase inclusion. According to PRS, the physicians who receive the most votes in each specialty are then screened through verification of licensing and review of any infractions with applicable boards, agencies and rating services before the final list is published.

Dr. Eftekhari is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and completed an accredited two-year fellowship in oculoplastic and facial surgery through the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). He founded the Eyelid Center of Utah in 2019 after serving as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Kittner Eye Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he taught eyelid surgery to residents and conducted research on oculoplastic surgical outcomes and facial trauma.

Much of the practice is aesthetic upper facial surgery including brow and upper eyelid lifts, lower eyelid bag surgery and facial balancing with fat grafting. Dr. Eftekhari also performs reconstructive eyelid surgery.

His surgical approach favors smaller incisions and shorter recovery where the anatomy allows, including endoscopic forehead lifting, transconjunctival lower eyelid surgery performed without an external incision, and minimally invasive ptosis repair. He has presented on his small-incision ptosis technique at the 18th American-Brazilian Aesthetic Meeting in Park City in February 2026 and at the Vegas Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Dermatology conference in May 2026.

Dr. Eftekhari has published peer-reviewed papers on aesthetic eyelid surgery, thyroid eye disease and blepharospasm, and lectures nationally and internationally on eyelid surgery, facial trauma and orbital disease. He serves as a reviewer for ophthalmology and aesthetic surgery journals, writes board-examination review materials in ophthalmology, previously chaired the Young ASOPRS Committee, and received the Outstanding Contribution Award from ASOPRS in 2020.
