San Franciscans Take a Stand (or Seat) for Serenity
Sokenbicha® and intent.com Bring the SF Community a Moment of "Seren-I-Tea" in Union Square with Meditation and Yoga to Support Local Charities
ATLANTA, June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sokenbicha® and intent.com are making big noise about quiet reflection. The leading Japanese blended tea brand – which launched in the U.S. last year – announced today its partnership with intent.com, the online community that supports peoples' intentions to live a mindful life. The partners will kick off their relationship with a guided meditation moment in the heart of San Francisco's Union Square to benefit the local community.
Dubbed "Seren-I-Tea in the Square," the event will feature guided public meditation led by intent.com founder and CEO Mallika Chopra (daughter of Deepak Chopra), a yoga session taught by Stephanie Snyder of Yoga Tree SF, live music by Alex Theory and an opportunity for guests to enjoy Sokenbicha® through the brand's pop-up experiential oasis from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on June 25.
For every event participant, Sokenbicha® will donate $5 to Headstand and Off the Mat and Into the World, nonprofit organizations making a significant impact in San Francisco and beyond by educating people about the transformational and healing power of yoga.
"The ancient Japanese wisdom behind Sokenbicha's brand teaches us to harness the power of nature to achieve balance from within," said Shannon Watkins, director, Sokenbicha®. "We see the partnership with intent.com as a way to not only bring people closer to our brand, but also to inspire them to enjoy everyday moments of serenity so they can ultimately lead a more fulfilled and balanced life."
In addition to the event, artist-designed animated videos, screensavers and meditation guides will debut over the coming weeks as part of the Sokenbicha® and intent.com collaboration – created to inspire tranquility and peace of mind.
"Setting intentions can change your life," said Chopra, whose web community recently garnered one million supports. "Combining social media with goal-setting is one of the most powerful ways to create personal and global transformation, which is intent.com's core purpose. Our partnership with Sokenbicha® enables us to expand our mindful community – sharing our platform with more people by pooling positive support."

About Sokenbicha®
Sokenbicha is an unsweetened Japanese tea that derives its brand heritage from the traditional Japanese Five Elements Theory, a philosophy based on harnessing the power of nature to balance the body from within. The ancient Japanese believed that only with the proper balance between all elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water – could health and well-being be achieved. The Sokenbicha® blends of teas are believed to balance the body by balancing the elements within. Join the teavolution at www.sokenbicha.com.
