San Francisco gets ready for its 3rd Annual Tech for Good Startup Weekend
SAN FRANCISCO, July 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Startup Weekend and the Impact Hub are teaming up to facilitate the 3rd Annual Tech for Good Startup Weekend. Talented startup enthusiasts will spend an intense weekend building mobile, web, and software solutions for some of the world's biggest challenges, ranging from poverty alleviation to climate change. The goal is to create social mission-oriented for-profit or business-oriented nonprofit entities that pursue the double or triple bottom line of positive economic, social, and environmental outcomes. This Startup Weekend will bring close to 100 hackers, designers and non-technical business minded individuals together to transform ideas into Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) over the course of just three days.
All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: entrepreneurs are welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it's a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. With a global alumni population of over 45,000 and conceiving more than 8,000 startups, Startup Weekend continues to be the largest growing community of passionate entrepreneurs worldwide.
Attendees will have no shortage of top-notch support throughout this process. Startup Weekend brings to stage a loaded lineup of industry veterans, including Steve Hoffman, Captain of Founders Space, Manny Fernandez, CEO and Co-Founder of DreamFunded.com and San Francisco's 2014 Angel Investor of the Year, Justin Renfro, Program Manager at KivaZip and James Lee, Partner at Schaffer&Combs Consulting.
Participants will also have access to mentors who will coach teams through the fundamentals of building a business, focusing on key learning objectives such as business model validation, product execution and user experience design.
As Manny Fernandez said: "As the Co-founder and CEO of www.DreamFunded.com, an equity crowdfunding platform, DreamFunded.com offers an unprecedented opportunity for Angel Investors and startups ready to scale up, so I am honored to be a part of this event encouraging and supporting the startup companies.
So, whether you're interested in creating social value, networking, learning a new skill or finding out if that long-time idea you've had has any traction, join us on July 31st, at the Impact Hub, 901 Mission St., San Francisco, for the 3rd Annual Tech for Good Startup Weekend in San Francisco.
