SANS Orlando Security Training Event to Feature Some of the Biggest Names in Cyber Security

SANS 2017 will feature more than 40 hands-on courses taught by the industry's top instructors. Included among the esteemed list of instructors is an Orlando area resident and cyber security expert, Hal Pomeranz.

Included among the instructor line-up are:

• Hal Pomeranz is an independent digital forensic investigator who has consulted on cases ranging from intellectual property theft, to employee sabotage, to organized cybercrime and malicious software infrastructures. He has worked with law enforcement agencies in the United States and Europe, and with global corporations. He is a recognized expert in the analysis of Linux and Unix systems, and has made key contributions in this domain. His file recovery tools are used by investigators worldwide and have led to multiple indictments and successful prosecutions. Pomeranz is a SANS faculty fellow and the creator and primary instructor for the 506: Securing Linux/Unix course which he will teach at SANS 2017.

• Ed Skoudis is a security expert on hacker attacks and defenses, a world-renowned author and President of Counter Hack, the company that has built the most sophisticated cyber-competitions and ranges used by the U.S. military. He's demonstrated hacker techniques against financial institutions for the U.S. Senate and frequently speaks at security conferences. He is also a SANS Faculty Fellow who teaches thousands of information security professionals how to improve their skills and better defend their networks. He was also the expert called in by the White House to test the security viability of the Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) and provides after-attack analysis on most of the major attacks against commercial organizations where credit card data is lost. Skoudis will teach his SEC560: Network Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking course at SANS 2017.

• Rob Lee is an entrepreneur and consultant specializing in information security, incident response, threat hunting, and digital forensics. He is also a SANS Faculty Fellow and the curriculum lead and author for digital forensic and incident response training. Prior to starting his own firm, he directly worked with a variety of government agencies, U.S. Department of Defense, and intelligence communities as the technical lead for a vulnerability discovery and an exploit development team, lead for a cyber forensics branch, and lead for a digital forensic and security software development team. Lee was also a director for MANDIANT, a company focused on investigating advanced adversaries, such as the APT, for five years prior to starting his own business. Lee will teach the FOR408: Windows Forensic Analysis course (He is the co-author of this course) at SANS 2017.

• Jason Fossen is a principal security consultant at Enclave Consulting LLC, a published author, and a frequent speaker on Microsoft security issues. A SANS Faculty Fellow, he is the sole author of the SANS Institute's week-long SEC505: Securing Windows and PowerShell Automation course (which he will teach at SANS 2017), maintains the Windows day of Security Essentials course (SEC401.5), and has been involved in numerous other SANS projects.
