Santa Monica Cannabis Technology Platform BudTrader Organizes End of Summer Beach Cleanup This Saturday
Volunteers from the Community and Special Celebrity Guests Will Pitch In to Clean Up the Historic Santa Monica Shoreline
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of volunteers from all over Southern California are expected to join BudTrader.com and celebrity guests for BudTrader's 2nd Annual End of Summer Beach Cleanup at Santa Monica Beach this Saturday, Sept. 15.
Volunteers will meet at Tower 26 on the beach at 1 p.m. and will walk along the coastline, picking up trash and debris with the goal of beautifying Santa Monica beach. In addition to volunteers from the community and influential members of the cannabis industry, celebrities and politicians are expected to pitch in and join the cleanup.
"We all had fun at the beach this summer," says BudTrader CEO Brad McLaughlin, who lives in Santa Monica. "We want to make sure we clean up our mess and leave the beach cleaner than we found it. Thousands of pounds trash finds its way to coastal land every year. The garbage includes plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, food wrappers and cigarette butts – detracting from the natural beauty of the shore and harming wildlife. BudTrader's beach cleanup initiative is focused on keeping trash out of oceans and beaches.
In addition to making a positive impact on the environment, the event is also centered around bringing together the legal cannabis community, and McLaughlin says it will be a priceless opportunity for the cannabis community to show how responsible and caring they are. Prizes will be awarded to volunteers in categories like "Most Valuable Trash Picker Upper" as well as "Most Inspirational" and "Most Enthusiastic."
In 2017, the BudTrader team and volunteers worked together to clean up 420 pounds of trash from the shoreline and surrounding areas in Encinitas, California.
