Hislop North returns 4.43 g/t Au over 20.2m (5.25 g/t Au uncut), including 12.81 g/t Au over 3.8m (16.44 g/t Au uncut)

TORONTO, Aug. 7, 2013 /CNW/ - St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. (TSX-SAS) (OTCQX-STADF), ("SAS" or the "Company") is pleased to announce recent drill results from the Hislop North Project ("Hislop North"), northwest of the Hislop Mine and the Hislop Pit depth extension drilling ("Hislop Pit Complex").

HIGHLIGHTS OF DRILLING RESULTS

Hislop Pit Complex

  • HP13-010: 3.06 g/t Au over 21.8 metres including 5.30 g/t Au over 8.2 metres

  • HP13-017: 3.37 g/t Au over 17.6 metres including 15.60 g/t Au over 2.2 metres

  • HP13-033: 7.01 g/t Au over 8.1 metres including 20.30 g/t Au over 1.5 metres

Hislop North

  • H13-003A: 4.43 g/t Au over 20.2 metres (5.25 g/t Au over 20.2 metres uncut) including 12.81 g/t Au  over 3.8 metres (16.44 g/t Au over 3.8 metres uncut)

  • H13-013: 8.32 g/t Au over 6.4 metres including 13.42 g/t Au over 2.9 metres

Notes:
All lengths at Hislop North and Hislop Pit Complex are reported as core length as true width is not available at this time. Assays are cut to 32.00 g/t Au.

Refer to Figure 1 and 2 for a plan view and longitudinal projection of the Hislop Pit Complex drilling results and Figure 3 for a plan view of Hislop North drilling results.

"The drill program at Hislop, both at the pit and the Hislop North targets continue to return encouraging results", said Jacques Perron, President & CEO of SAS. "Hislop North continues to show the southern strike extension of mineralization onto SAS property. Drilling will re-commence on this area once the pit drilling is completed as this is the higher priority for SAS.  At the Pit Complex, drilling continues to confirm that the mineralization continues to depth beneath both pits."

Hislop Pit Complex (Refer to Figure 1 and 2 for a plan view and longitudinal projection of the Hislop Pit Complex drilling results)

Following up on drilling initiated  late in 2012 beneath the East and West pits at the Hislop Mine, SAS is pleased to report assay results from 23 holes (8,600 metres), which intersected strongly silicified, sulphidized and mineralized syenite. Phase I drilling consisted of a  widely spaced 50 metre by 50 metre drill program aimed at testing for the presence of mineralized extensions down to a depth of 100 metres below the pit bottoms and is now complete.

The drilling highlighted well mineralized intercepts being reported below both the East and West pits. Hole HP13-010 which is situated approximately 75 metres below the bottom of the West Pit, returned 3.06 g/t Au over 21.8 metres, including 5.30 g/t Au over 8.2 metres. The mineralized zone remains open at depth. Drilling below the East Pit returned strong mineralization in Hole HP13-017, which is situated approximately 200 metres below the bottom of the current East Pit, and assayed 3.37 g/t Au over 17.6 metres including 15.60 g/t Au over 2.2 metres,. The mineralized zone remains open at depth.

A second phase of infill drilling under both the East and West pits, designed to provide additional data which would support a resource estimate is nearing completion.

Significant assay intercepts from the recent drilling on the Hislop Pit Complex are summarized in the table below:

Hislop North Project (Refer to Figure 3 for a plan view of Hislop North drilling)
Phase 1 drilling along the northern boundary of the Hislop property, which followed up on the southerly strike extensions of the 147 and Grey Fox zones, is now complete with a total of 18 holes and 9,000 metres drilled during this first pass of drilling. SAS is pleased to report near surface intersections over significant widths were intercepted in hole H13-003A, which returned 4.43 g/t Au over 20.2 metres (5.25 g/t Au uncut), including 12.81 g/t Au over 3.8 metres (16.44 g/t Au uncut); and H13-013, which returned 8.32 g/t Au over 6.4 metres, including 13.42 g/t Au over 2.9 metres.

These intercepts are hosted within a brecciated albitic mafic volcanic with significant quartz veining and disseminated pyrite, a style of mineralization that is similar in nature to deposits along strike of the 147, Grey Fox South and Hislop North mineralized trend.

Mineralization remains open at depth and the Company expects to commence with a second phase of drilling on the potential extensions of the 147 and Grey Fox target areas before the end of the year.

Significant assay intercepts from the recent Hislop North drilling are summarized in the table below:

Forward-looking information is frequently identified by such words as "may", "will", "plan", "expect", "estimate", "anticipate", "believe", "intend" and similar words referring to future events and results, including in respect of the extent, timing, objectives and interpretation of exploration programs at the Hislop Pit Complex and Hislop North Project, and the completion of a resource estimate on the Hislop Pit Complex.

Factors that may cause actual results to vary materially include, but are not limited to, unanticipated operational or technical difficulties which could increase the time necessary to complete the development initiatives, escalate operating and/or capital costs and reduce anticipated production levels; uncertainties relating to the interpretation of the geology, continuity, grade and size estimates of the mineral reserves and resources; the Company's dependence on key employees and changes in the availability of qualified personnel; fluctuations in gold prices and exchange rates; operational hazards and risks, including the inability to insure against all risks; changes in laws and regulations; and changes in general economic conditions. Such forward looking information is based on a number of assumptions, including in respect of the ability to achieve operating cost estimates, the volatility and level of the price of gold including that the gold price will generally remain within a reasonable range of current levels, the accuracy of reserve and resource estimates and the assumptions on which such estimates are based, the sufficiency of the Company's cash flow and financial reserves to carry out its planned programs, the ability to attract and retain qualified personnel to conduct its exploration programs and operate its mines and general business and economic conditions. Should one or more risks and uncertainties materialize or should any assumptions prove incorrect, then actual results could vary materially from those expressed or implied in the forward-looking information. Accordingly, readers are cautioned not to place undue reliance on this forward-looking information. SAS does not assume the obligation to revise or update this forward-looking information after the date of this release or to revise such information to reflect the occurrence of future unanticipated events, except as may be required under applicable securities laws.
