WOONSOCKET, R.I., Oct. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- To reward loyal shoppers, CVS/pharmacy today announced a new promotion that allows customers to earn multiple free gift cards just by shopping for essentials at more than 7,200 locations nationwide. The new promotion began on Sunday October 16 and will go through December 25, 2011. Members of CVS/pharmacy's ExtraCare Rewards program can earn $10 gift cards to Macy's, Gap, Applebee's, Shell Stations, American Express, Barnes & Noble or CVS/pharmacy every week simply by spending $30 on specially-marked items found conveniently in the weekly CVS/pharmacy circular.

"To participate, shoppers simply scan their ExtraCare Rewards card when purchasing specially-marked items included in the CVS/pharmacy circular each week. Participants who make the qualifying purchases can then choose their favorite gift card option from a variety of participating brands, and then opt to keep those gift cards for themselves or gift them to friends and family for birthdays, holidays and other celebrations."

Customers can find the qualifying products on the front and back pages each week in the CVS/pharmacy circular beginning October 16, accessible in-store, online at http://www.cvs.com/weeklyad and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CVS. All qualifying products will be clearly marked as part of the "Earn Free Gift Cards" promotion to make them easily identifiable. Eligible products will range from health and beauty items, to groceries and snacks, household needs, toys and electronics. Products included in the promotion will change each week, giving shoppers flexibility to fill their carts with the essentials they shop for each week while earning multiple gift cards.

Once ExtraCare customers reach the $30 required purchase threshold in the week-long period, a special coupon will print on their receipt that can be redeemed immediately in-store for a $10 gift card. If customers prefer to wait to redeem their coupon they have up to 30 days to do so. Shoppers will also have the opportunity to take advantage of the deal every week, with new products in the weekly circular. However, there is no carry-over balance to the next week, since the specially marked products may change. Customers will also be able to earn up to five gift cards per week by making the qualifying $30 purchases (one $10 gift card is earned for each qualifying $30 purchase). There is a limit of five redemptions per week for each ExtraCare member.
