Scalar Decisions Inc. Announces Agreement to Acquire Mainland Information Systems

TORONTO, July 7, 2015 /CNW/ - Scalar Decisions Inc. ("Scalar"), Canada's leading information technology solutions integrator, today announced that it has reached an agreement with Mainland Information Systems ("Mainland") to combine operations, creating one of Canada's largest IT solutions companies. The transaction is expected to close later in July.

The transaction is mutually beneficial to Scalar and Mainland, their employees and their stakeholders, and creates a truly national IT solutions company that focuses on infrastructure, security and cloud. The addition of the Mainland business significantly enhances Scalar's offering in Western Canada, while Mainland will now be a part of a team that operates nationally and will have a broader range of solutions to offer their clients, including an industry-leading set of security services. Existing clients will continue to receive the same great level of service they have come to expect from Scalar and Mainland.

While the two companies will combine operations over time, the two brand names will continue to be used in the near-term. Scalar president and CEO Paul Kerr will be the chief executive of Scalar while Jason Born will continue to serve as president of Mainland. The leadership teams of both Scalar and Mainland will work together to identify and implement integration opportunities.

There will be no headcount reduction resulting from the combination of the two businesses. In fact, the merged company has over 50 positions that need to be filled in the coming months.
